Midwest Medieval History Conference
Greetings from the Midwest Medieval History Conference. You are cordially invited to attend this fall's meeting, to be held on the campus of Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana on October 9-10, 2015. Highlighting the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta and the Fourth Lateran Council, the program will feature a keynote address (“Magna Carta and the European ius gentium”) by Richard H. Helmholz (University of Chicago Law School).
Appropriately enough, sessions will be held in the Magna Carta Room on the second floor of Federal Hall, a beautifully restored federal courthouse now home to ISU’s Scott College of Business. The conference will conclude on Saturday afternoon at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church with a special performance of medieval music by Concentus (Historical Performance Institute, Indiana University), followed by the traditional (and optional) Saturday evening banquet.
The conference program is attached, but may also be accessed via the MMHC’s website: http://mmhc.slu.edu
Online registration through ISU’s Office of Extended Learning will be available between now and October 2, 2015: https://isu-aceweb-001.indstate.edu/SubGroup.awp?Group=CON&Title=Conference+Registrations
The registration fee (Regular $120, Graduate Student/Independent Scholar $75) includes two receptions and the Saturday business luncheon. Those wishing to stay for the Saturday evening banquet may add that option ($50) to their registration by selecting a banquet entrée preference (Portobello Mushroom Napoleon or Sesame Chicken Breast). Please direct any special dietary needs or other concerns to this year’s host, Steve Stofferahn (email@example.com).
Hotel accommodations may be arranged with the Hilton Garden Inn by calling (812) 234-8900. The hotel, located at 750 Wabash Avenue, Terre Haute (just across the street from the conference venue), will hold a block of rooms at the rate of $109/night until September 19. Please be sure to mention your affiliation with the MMHC.
We look forward to seeing you in Terre Haute this October!
